Tuesday night work at the project house

This is the kitchen window that we had replaced. The old window that came out of there was so long that part of the window was actually below the kitchen counter. With the shorter window we had to get some siding that we could match up with the old  siding. The problem is that the old siding is made of asbestos. It is fine if it stays on the house, but if you pull it off it is a hazardous material! We were able to find through Home depot a replacement tile which doesn't contain any asbestos. It was a bit pricey, (178 bucks for 13 tiles) but it matched up pretty good! Tonight we were able to get it installed, trimmed out and primed in under 2 hours. It was a good night!  We just need to paint it and caulk around the edges of the window trim.

Our weekend off from the project

We started  the day in Akron at the National hamburger festival as judges. We spent the early evening out at Nelson Ledges taking pictures and hiking around. The last part of the day was spent in the backyard by the fire. It was a busy day, but it was a nice change of pace for us!

This weeks work

This week we got a closet built in the front bedroom (1st picture). The closet looks crooked in the picture, It is not, It is the walls that are crooked! The only thing straight in that whole room is that doorway into the closet.
The second picture is of the master bedroom where we had the hidden window. We had to make a transition from the new unearthed window to the back wall. It turned out good. This room is coming along and it wont be long till we get to paint it. The other bedroom is painted, except the new closet.
The last picture is of the new bathroom window, which we trimmed out today and put a coat of primer on the trim. We are going to have the sliding patio door put in on Tuesday.
It is going slow, but we are still moving forward

Here are a couple more progress pictures

The top picture is of the access panel we made to get in the attic. Before we did the work, there was just a whole cut in the ceiling. You can also see the texture we put on the ceiling and what it looks like with a coat of paint on it. The second picture is pretty obvious a new front door. It still needs to be trimmed out, but it looks good. We had someone put in the door, so we can't take credit for it. You learn as you go along that you have limits in what you can do yourself. We would have spent a whole day getting that door in.

A little paint goes a long way!

The top picture is the furnace duct covers that we have taken out of the ceiling at the project house. The bottom picture shows you what a can of spray paint can do!
