Do you ever wish you could go back in time?

The title of my post sounds if I want to go way back in history But that is not the case. I think we have wonderful inventions that make life easier and able to communicate quicker than anytime in history. I guess what I yearn for is a more simpler time. I think of going on a road trip that would not involve an Interstate. Where we would drive on stretches of highway in the country and then go through a little town and then repeat the process. Michelle and I did that on Labor day weekend on a small scale. It ended up being a round trip of 200 miles. We saw lots of corn fields and then came into towns with old Victorian homes and old brick down town buildings. It was just great fun. The only thing was missing was pulling into an old service station and get a cold coke in a glass bottle out of the old machines. I don't even drink coke anymore, but if I could find one in a 12oz bottle out of one those machines I would be all over it!

Our first project this year not on the project house!

Today we replaced the stairs that go up to the pool deck, which we have been planning on fixing in our heads for the past 3 years. The old steps were steep, wobbly, and pretty much unsafe. We are proud to say we got the materials and it built in under 4 hours. We still need to put hand rails up, but they didn't have all the materials and Home Depot, so a trip to Lowe's will be necessary. I wont  miss the old steps! The new steps look crooked, but it is the old deck that is crooked

The dog wall of fame!

Here is a couple of pictures that Michelle painted of our dogs. We finally got around to putting them up  officially yesterday. We have had the picture of Snick going on different walls of the house where nothing was hanging on the wall for the last six months. Buttercup's picture has been finished for a few months, but just sitting on a table in the basement. Terri asked me one day when we were going to hang up Buttercup, and I said  my usual dry self "that we were just waiting for her to die, then she would be put up on the wall". You could tell by the look on Terri's face that she thought that was a bit morbid! Then I laughed and told her I was just kidding. Any way here they are!

Todays trike ride

We went to one of our favorite bike trails in Pennsylvania today. The trail goes along the path of the Allegheny river of Pittsburgh. We shot a video of us going through one of the two tunnels on the trail. We stopped and ate lunch, stopped and talked to a couple of other trail riders. It turned out to be a nice enjoyable ride!

Our weekend

This was the first weekend that we have had that we didn't have to feel guilty about not putting a full day in at the project house. We did go over today and spent a little over an hour cleaning the garage and bringing back some of the tools from over there. I was there once earlier in the week and mowed. Tomorrow is my day off and I am not going over there at all. I will post a couple of pictures of the kitchen as now we have the appliances in.
Last night we went for a trike ride on a trail that is pretty close to the project house. It runs north from there all the way to Lake Erie. We are not that adventurous yet. We ended up going about 9 miles out to this little pond. We pretty much had the trail to ourselves and were able to ride side by side a lot of the way. You can see the new flag Michelle made for my trike, now it's time to make hers!

We are done!

As far as more work to be done on the project house, We can't think of anything else to do! We still have to bring some tools home, but first we have to find some room for them, so they can stay in the garage for now.We spent the day vacuuming carpets, scrubbing floors and washing windows. We took some pictures which look a lot like all the other pictures we have taken, but will share them with you one more time. This are pictures we took to advertise for a renter.

Our first official trike ride

We got out on our first trike excursion this afternoon. We loaded up the car with the folded  trikes and managed a nice comfortable pace for a few miles. It was all up hill on the way out so kind of zoomed along on our way back. Here are a few pictures of  trikes folded and in the car and even a picture with the old guy zipping around the parking lot!

A good sign from Leavittsburg!

For the first time we have started taking things back home from the project house, instead of takings things to the project house. It was a good feeling!

We got our trikes this week!

We got our trikes yesterday, We started to put Michelle's together last night. It took two full evenings to get the first one put together. I am predicting we can get mine done in one night after all the experience we got. I will put a link to Michelle's blog on here as she went into some detail of the trials we had last night   (it's at the bottom of the page). It wasn't so funny last night, but we laughed quite a bit about it today.  Here are a few pictures of Michelle's trike from in the box to completely assembled. It is a folding trike, so they will fit in the back of the car nicely.

Short work today ... backsplash, lights

We split our work into two short sessions. Yesterday we put up the back splash in behind were the stove is going. Today we painted the back splash and a couple of closet doors. I have included a couple of pictures of lights that I haven't posted yet. The one thing I noticed from the kitchen picture is we sure have a lot of crap laying on the counter. We are just about at the clean up point now.

Let there be lights and curtains and etc!

We spent the day today hanging closet doors and hanging curtains. We would go over and flip a light switch and stare at the lights as they came on, which was awe inspiring as it has been so long since we have seen that sight over there. We almost went into convulsions when found that we could turn the living room lights off and on from three different light switches! The electrician is coming back in the morning to finish up.
